Guitar Ace - Link Wray Tribute
MuSick Recordings
Song: Jack the Ripper
One of my all-time favorite surf-instro bands, Pollo Del Mar, serves up justice to the Wrayman on "Jack the Ripper." This is one of his greatest songs ever recorded.
Music Dish - Keith Hannaleck
This is the best to date from San Francisco's ever larger Pollo Del Mar. Simply stunning. This is an absolutely raging performance of Link Wray and his Raymen's "Jack The Ripper." It doesn't get much bigger than this. Exquisite tortured feedback, glorious sustain, and precise power. Powerful drums, thundering bass, and intense guitars. Wears me out!!! ***** (5 Stars)

Anything that acknowledges the feral majesty of Mr. Link Wray is A.O.K. in my book. This compilation does the job by offering some cool moments (Deke Dickerson, Dave Wronski, Boss Martians, Pollo Del Mar), but the mostly sedate covers on the rest of the album ultimately prove the man is still the man.

I LOVE Pollo del Mar's "Jack the Ripper", which could actually be my favorite song done by them ever! Very tight and energetic, beautiful tones, and shards of feedback going through the verses as the PERFECT counterpoint. Great idea, guys!
